Richie August started mixing Drum & Bass and Hip Hop in 1998. He then started producing his own music in 2000, and worked with Chicago Hip Hop artist, “Skope The Lyrical MC”, until he was exposed to Dubstep in early 2008. It didn’t take him long before his first Dubstep release was signed to Betamorph Recordings entitled “Death Proof EP”. As soon as that EP was released, it solidified his sound in the Dubstep community as a Producer / DJ with nothing but teeth rattling bass and a Hip Hop edge… A sound which nobody has been able to imitate. As soon as you hear a new Richie August tune, you know it’s his. Since then, he’s been making beat after beat, remixing, collaborating and pushing out tracks. Richie has played clubs and raves all over the US. He has shown his skills at the infamous “SmartBar” in Chicago numerous times, murdering their dance floor on the clubs’ Funktion-One sound system. Richie just got back from playing Fuzz in Pittsburgh, has a tour planned for this Winter, and is currently filling up his calendar with dates throughout the U.S.A.

60Hz: DJ C

Posted by TMM On April - 13 - 2009

60Hz is back at it…This time with Chicago-by-way-of-Boston’s own DJ C!!!! Make sure to peep this night as the damage will come from all angles and all hemispheres!

DJ C - Mashit / Joystixx

Beat producer, party scientist, and remixer of artists from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of bass-heavy, bounced-up dancefloor-blends across the land.

He’s been pumping out a series of records on labels around the globe including a remix of M.I.A.’s U.R.A.Q.T. for XL Recordings, as well as singles/remixes for Ninja Tune, Soul Jazz, Modular, Tigerbeat6, and his own Mashit imprint; sharing the groves in those records with the likes of Sinden, Stereotyp, Crookers, The Bug, Kid606, Warrior Queen, Drop The Lime, Ghislain Poirier, Serj Tankian and many more. Back in ‘04 legendary BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a “label of the month” and featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks. Since then his tunes and DJ sets have continued to evolve into ever-more devastating dance-floor monsters.
